Job Overview:
The Associate Naval Architect will be supporting FEED/EPCIC projects with design and installation engineering/analysis activities related Floatover Engineering, Mooring Analysis, Jacket/topside loadout and offloading analysis, Dynamic Jacket Launch and upending analysis, Transportation analysis and any other Naval Architecture tasks in a junior level. Learns the content and application of relevant industry codes, standards, guidelines, design methods and analysis.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering
- Entry Level position or less than 3 years’ experience related to Transportation and Installation Engineering for Offshore projects
- Exposure to analysis packages for Naval Analysis (Eg. MOSES)
- Excellent verbal and written communication

Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks related to Naval Architecture tasks for installation of offshore facilities including jackets and topsides
- Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring.
- Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.
- Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
- Tender engineering support with emphasis on document review, assist with the preparation of subcontractor documents, bid evaluation and vendor selection.
- Assist senior engineers with preparation of technical reports, design calculations, engineering analysis and interface with third parties including subcontractors and verification bodies.
- Required to attend and prepare for project progress meetings and departmental meetings.
- Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule and all inter-discipline requirements.
- Prepare sketches of detail design to guide Designers and check drawings.
- Keep the Area Lead/ Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress and concerns.
- Develop an awareness of costs related to own work.
- Develop basic understanding of McDermott's business and customers it serves.
- Develop basic knowledge of McDermott's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication and marine functions.
- Develop advanced skills in use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understand and apply standards and procedures.
