Job summary

Wesco seeks a Network Engineer to support and monitor our LAN/WAN/Wireless environment, ensuring optimal performance and end-user experience. You will work with vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot critical networking services and contribute to complex projects.

The role requires CCNA routing and switching, Cisco switching/routing and wireless hardware experience, and the ability to create precise network documentation. Evening/weekend availability and MSP coordination are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• CCNA routing and switching certification.
• 1–3 years hands-on with Cisco switching/routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
• 1–2 years experience with EIGRP, BGP, MPLS and other routing protocols.
• 1 year with cloud-based services.
• 1–2 years overall IT experience.
• Router and switch configuration.
• Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint usage.
• Strong communication with end users and IT staff.
• Ability to create clear network documentation.
• Experience working with Managed Service Providers.
• Understanding carrier networks.
• Ability to analyze situations quickly and decisively.
• Evening and weekend availability as needed.
• Vendor management preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting preferred.
• ITIL/BICSI/Lean familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install and maintain network switches, routers and security hardware.
• Support complex LAN/WAN networks across the organization.
• Maintain Wesco's networking infrastructure incl. routers, switches, APs, VPN, data centers.
• Troubleshoot LAN/WAN problems as directed by SR Networking Team.
• Install, upgrade and support network hardware and software.
• Perform day-to-day operational tasks.
• Create and maintain technical network documents.
• Provide 24/7 network support.
• Pursue ongoing improvements to reliability, availability and functionality.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install and maintain network Switches, Routers and Security Hardware.
• Support complex LAN/WAN networks throughout the organization.
• Assists in maintaining WESCO’s networking infrastructure to include, routers, switches, access points, VPN, and data center environments.
• Takes direction from the SR Networking Team to troubleshoot on Local and Wide Area Network problems.
• Performs installations, upgrades and support of other network hardware and software.
• Performs and assists others with day to day operational tasks.
• Creates and maintains technical documents for the network.
• Provides 24/7 support of the network.
• Continuous improvement of the overall network environment to enhance reliability, availability, and functionality.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree required
• Licenses/Certificates/Designations - CCNA routing and switching
• 1 years required, 3 years preferred of hands on with Cisco switching, routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
• 1 years required, 2 years preferred of EIGRP, BGP, MPLS and other routing protocols.
• 1 year required, 2 years preferred of working with cloud-based services.
• 1 years required, 2 years preferred of overall IT.
• Router and switch configuration.
• Microsoft suite of software including Visio and Power Point.
• Effective communications with end users and other IT staff.
• Ability to create clear and highly accurate project and network documentation is a must.
• Ability to work with and manage members of a Managed Service Provider
• Ability to understand carrier networks
• Ability to quickly analyze situations and act decisively.
• Must be available evenings and weekends as situations require.
• Vendor management preferred.
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities preferred.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and support concepts (ITIL, BICSI, Lean) preferred.
