Associate Director, Catastrophe Management

We're hiring! We are looking for an Associate Director, Catastrophe Management to join our Reinsurance team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

What the day will look like

Responsibilities on Catastrophe Management

  • Data auditing, formatting and compilation of insurance risk portfolios for the purpose of catastrophe management using a range of software platforms (MS Access, MS Excel, SQL)
  • Catastrophe modelling analysis using internal and externally licensed catastrophe models.
  • Catastrophe model results interpretation, testing and evaluation of models
  • Application and communication of catastrophe modelling results for reinsurance design, pricing and placement
  • Take on responsibility as local territory contact, liaising with clients and colleagues to establish client project objectives, outcomes, and manage these projects.
  • Build and leverage relationships with relevant client staff to help identify information gaps, improve suboptimal processes and analyses
  • Do presentations and conduct training sessions, workshops and related assistance to help support delivery of key Aon tools and products
  • Help drive the View of Risk within Malaysia for our clients utilising the Impact Forecasting model

Supporting the View of Risk

  • Be the local liaison, in coordination with Singapore Analytics and APAC model evaluation team, for local research institutions, government departments and any third parties in relation to researching and the continual development of View of Risk for Malaysia.
  • Articulate View of Risk into the local market with clients and prospects and reinsurance partners.
  • Coordinate client feedback and identify business opportunities around View of Risk (reinsurance, underwriting, rating).

Enhancing Application of Analytics for Clients in Malaysia

  • Support placement related activities such as technical pricing and benchmarking.
  • Conduct presentations and training sessions relating to analytics work ensuring the effective and efficient communication of concepts and results to both clients and colleagues.
  • Keep abreast of analytics related products, local market initiatives and client feedback to identify potential application of analytics products within the Malaysian market.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Graduated in a science field such as earth science, physics, mathematics or related fields such as actuarial, finance or statistical studies
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in (re)insurance working in an analytical role focussing on catastrophe modelling/management
  • Strong experience in Verisk, Moody’s and CoreLogic catastrophe modelling platforms, operating and interpretation
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office suites (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience in using Microsoft SQL preferred
  • Experience in programming or scripting preferred
  • GIS experience (ACRMAP) preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels within the corporation and various business units.
