Job description
Role Purpose:
Foreign Exchange Unit: To propose and execute FX strategies based on short-to-medium-term outlooks, aiming to outperform the currency performance of Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and/or FX execution benchmark. Additionally, to capitalize on intermittent market opportunities via hedging or tactical FX strategies based on short-term outlooks to further enhance the Bank’s investment returns.
Asset Allocation Unit: Propose, execute and monitor the Bank’s Tactical Asset Allocation strategies based on short-term outlook and market opportunities with the objective of enhancing the Bank’s return by outperforming against the Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA).
Principal Accountabilities:
Foreign Exchange Unit:
Formulate FX strategies based on short-to-medium-term currency market outlooks.
Execute FX strategies within the investment guidelines and bounds/constraints as approved by the management, encompassing Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA) strategy, FX overlay strategy and other income enhancement strategies.
Conduct strategic research relating to the currency markets using fundamental, technical, and quantitative (model-based) analysis to enhance the investment decision-making process.
Provide relevant currency market and economic outlooks for discussion at investment strategy meetings to generate an outperformance for the Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA) strategy.
Contribute to the planning and monitoring of the Bank’s income generation and conduct periodic reviews to ensure the achievement of profit and loss (P&L) targets, or any other goals set by the management.
Prepare written periodic and ad-hoc reports for the management and other sections within the investment group to reflect up-to-date currency market views and the implementation progress/performance of FX strategies.
Asset Allocation Unit:
To formulate and propose TAA strategies to outperform the DAA strategy.
To ensure implementation of approved TAA strategies, within various asset classes, either via outright execution by portfolio managers or derivatives.
To identify new investment opportunities, including derivative instruments, to expand the Bank’s ability to capture excess return.
Conduct tactical asset allocation research using fundamental, technical and quantitative (model-based) analysis to assist in the investment decision making process.
To provide relevant economic and financial market research, surveillance and analysis for investment decision making.
Prepare periodic and ad-hoc updates/reports on economic and financial market development and updates on implementation of TAA strategies.
Requirements:
Academic Qualifications: Degree or professional qualifications in accounting, economics, banking, finance, engineering, or a highly quantitative field such as mathematics or statistics. Additionally, possessing a CFA designation and/or PKMC would be an added advantage.
Experience: Min 2 years of working experience with background in various capacities across financial markets.
