Job description
Role Purpose:
Conduct research and analysis to support the implementation of domestic financial market development strategies to ensure market efficiency, resilience and sustainability while keeping up with global progress.
Principal Accountabilities:
Policy and Strategy Formulation
Assist in formulating and implementing strategies for the development of an efficient, effective and competitive financial market by conducting in-depth research and analysis on trends in both domestic and international markets.
Collect market intelligence through close engagement with market players.
Monitor and analyse latest developments in the financial sector, both domestic and international, and provide feedback to incorporate beneficial strategies in policy recommendations.
Monitor and review effectiveness of prudential policies & operational frameworks for financial market players, products, instruments and mechanisms.
Surveillance on Intermediaries
Provide feedback to enhance integration of financial systems within the region and support the regional outreach of Malaysian local financial institutions.
Assist in developing and supervising the maintenance of technology-driven systems for the financial markets, as well as providing value-added feedback and advice to line departments to ensure the effectiveness and usefulness of such systems.
Conduct assessment for the approval of electronic trading platforms in Malaysia.
Responsible for the biennial evaluation of principal dealers and annual FX and bond market league tables.
Assist in the wholesale market conduct supervision of business entities and market players.
Effective Communications and Coordination of Financial Market Development Initiatives
Secretariat to the Financial Market Committee (FMC).
Requirements:
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or professional qualifications in accounting, economics, finance, financial engineering, mathematics, actuarial science, law, or other quantitative based fields. Qualifications in other fields may be considered. A CFA holder would be an added advantage.
Experience: In depth knowledge of the financial market and different types of monetary instruments. At least 2-3 years relevant working experience in financial markets or investment management.
