A leading logistics company in Malaysia seeks an Assistant Warehouse Manager to oversee daily operations and optimize warehouse workflows. This role demands strong leadership, inventory management skills, and adherence to safety protocols. The successful candidate will collaborate with multi-departmental teams to ensure efficient logistics and maintain a high standard of compliance and safety.

• Oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all processes.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse workflows and optimize space utilization.
• Ensure inventory control and accuracy, monitor stock levels, and oversee regular audits.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and timely product deliveries.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Supervision and Staff Management:
• Assist in managing warehouse staff, including overseeing work schedules, delegating tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols.
• Train new employees and provide ongoing guidance on warehouse procedures and equipment operation.
• Monitor staff performance and ensure productivity targets are met.
2. Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels and assist in maintaining accurate records of stock.
• Ensure goods are properly labelled, tracked, and stored according to company procedures.
• Assist with regular inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
3. Receiving and Dispatching:
• Supervise the efficient unloading, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments.
• Oversee the preparation and timely dispatch of outgoing orders, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and shipment tracking.
• Monitor and track the status of shipments to ensure orders are completed on time.
4. Warehouse Organization:
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the warehouse to ensure efficient operations.
• Optimize the layout and storage systems for easy access to goods and safe movement of employees and equipment.
• Ensure safe, clean, and clutter-free aisles and storage spaces at all times.
5. Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure warehouse safety standards are adhered to and ensure staff are trained in safety procedures.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with all relevant legal regulations, including health, safety, and environmental laws.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment.
6. Equipment and Maintenance:
• Oversee the maintenance and proper operation of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, conveyors, and scanners.
• Report any equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely repairs to minimize disruptions to operations.
7. Data Entry and Reporting:
• Assist in tracking and reporting warehouse metrics and performance indicators.
• Maintain and update inventory management systems, order processing software, and other digital records as needed.
• Generate and assist with reports on stock levels, order fulfilment, and operational efficiency.
8. Problem Resolution:
• Address and resolve any issues related to inventory discrepancies, shipping delays, or customer concerns promptly and efficiently.
• Provide support during high-demand periods and assist in developing solutions to operational challenges.
9. Additional Responsibilities:
• Support the Warehouse Manager with any other tasks related to warehouse operations and logistics as needed.
What we prefer:
• Good command of English (ability to speak Malay and Mandarin would be an advantage).
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a large, multinational workforce.
• Very good computer skills, particularly using Excel and MYOB.
• Knowledge and experience in inventory/stock control and warehouse procedures.
• Prior experience in warehouse management or a related field.
• Familiarity with the marine industry would be an advantage.
