Job summary

Celestica, Inc. in Johor Bahru is seeking an Assistant Supervisor Logistics to oversee receiving, stocking and shipping operations, and to drive process improvements in our manufacturing supply chain.

The role requires four to six years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and strong leadership skills to coach staff and coordinate with manufacturing and planning teams. Familiarity with ISO standards and cost accounting is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of warehouse management operations and inventory control methods in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of MRP (manufacturing resource planning).
• Good leadership and coaching skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develops, improves and enforces documented procedures for material handling practices.
• Supervises receiving, checking and stocking raw materials; sorting and delivering raw materials to production; and packaging finished products and shipping to customers.
• Evaluates departmental metrics to measure performance.
• Creates reports and regular communication with regard to status of operations.
• Identifies and drives process improvements.
• Coordinates overall operation of replenishment / kitting activities and movement of inventory.
• Acts as primary interface with manufacturing and planning.
• Schedules materials / kits for the production line.
• Supervises material handlers and/or replenishment staff within assigned work teams.
• Assigns and schedules tasks and checks work at regular intervals.
• Provides input for employees performance reviews; recommends disciplinary action as necessary.
• Establishes a team training model and a developmental plan for each employee.
• Ensures that all employees are trained to perform effectively and efficiently.
• Reassigns personnel as necessary to optimize production.
• Meets and communicates regularly with employees regarding site safety standards, ISO standards, customer awareness training, etc.
• Interacts with peers and other departments to communicate information, resolve issues and continually improve processes.
• Attends meetings related to material status and production.
• Knowledge of warehouse management operations and inventory control methods in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of MRP (manufacturing resource planning).
• Knowledge of cost accounting practices.
• Good leadership and coaching skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
• Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
• Duties of this position require continuous light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motion, standing, sitting in a confined work space, climbing, using equipment, handling lightweight materials, etc.
• Duties of this position require periodic heavy manual effort and considerable exertion including lifting objects over 20 pounds, requiring straining, pulling and lifting.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.
