Job description

Sports Direct Malaysia is currently looking for an Assistant Shop Manager to join our growing team.

Malaysia marks the first direct retail investment in Asia through a joint venture partnership with Malaysian-owned MST Golf Group of companies, a well-established golf retailer and service provider in the region. Sports Direct Malaysia currently operates 38 retail stores domestically and manages a proprietary SportsDirect.com e-commerce site for domestic and regional fulfillment. Job Description

The Assistant Shop Manager will assist the Shop Manager in the overall operations and performance of the shop. Responsibilities include managing staff, stock, sales, service, systems, and other shop-related matters.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in leading, training, motivating, and managing the outlet team to deliver excellent service across all departments.
  • Ensure all team members observe and adhere to company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Work with the team to achieve monthly sales targets.
  • Monitor stock delivery and processing.
  • Ensure all operational and customer service SOPs are followed.
  • Manage product display arrangements according to VM guidelines.
  • Conduct daily morning briefings, providing product knowledge and policy updates.
  • Supervise shop team members and address customer inquiries.
  • Handle overall shop operations and maintain standards in the absence of the Shop Manager.
  • Coordinate with departments on maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Assist in stock takes as required.
  • Review sales performance and set daily targets to ensure achievement.
  • Communicate effectively with Head Office and relevant departments.
  • Review staff performance to identify talents and retain staff.
  • Ensure accurate tills reports and cash handling.
  • Implement sales and promotional plans as needed.
  • Support the Shop Manager in addressing suspicious activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Requirement:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Retail Management or relevant discipline.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in reputable retail companies of similar size.
  • Passion and knowledge of sports is an advantage.
  • Proven leadership and management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work long hours, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
  • Open to relocation.
