JOB SUMMARY
Take the initiative and/or assist the Purchasing Manager in ensuring that materials supply equals demand, optimizing the overall cost of purchasing, supporting the business development efforts with current and potential customers, and developing/implementing purchasing strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Purchasing Manager in leading and administering the Purchasing organization.
- Support the development and implementation of Supply Chain strategies and systems.
- Optimize the overall cost of materials and ensure that materials supply equals demand.
- Execute Purchasing and Materials Planning functions according to business objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure all purchase orders are placed with negotiated pricing and terms & conditions approved by Jabil Commodity Managers and Buyers.
- Ensure the operation's supply base contributes to the success of the operation, selecting suppliers based on overall cost-effectiveness and their ability to meet Jabil's requirements. Monitor, track, and provide feedback on supplier performance regarding cost, delivery, and quality.
- Maintain an open, non-political culture that encourages employees to focus on maximizing company performance and customer service.
- Support the development of Jabil Supply Chain strategies and systems, obtaining feedback from customers/BUs and suppliers. Collaborate with Jabil SCM, other operations, suppliers, and customers to develop supply chain solutions that improve performance and service levels.
- Support customer/BUs business needs using Jabil's standard processes where possible and customized solutions where necessary. Influence customers/BUs to leverage Jabil's Supply Chain solutions.
- Continuously improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of Purchasing and Materials Planning functions. Drive down overall material costs, including component pricing, freight, administration, materials liability, and inventory levels.
- Enforce the Corporate “Rules of the Road” Commandment and Cultural Creeds, along with corporate and operational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Strong skills in communication, leadership, business analysis, process development, administration, and change management.
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Knowledge of managing material costs and price variances.
- Ability to manage Days of Supply, excess and obsolete inventory, and high stock levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum five years of relevant industry experience, including two years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- APICS and CPM certifications preferred.
