Job summary

The role involves assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, and hygiene; turning bedridden patients to prevent bedsores; monitoring vital signs and reporting changes; aiding with rehab exercises and safe transfers; and assisting with medications and wound care as allowed by facility rules.

Qualifications

• Experience as assistant nurse or caregiver preferred.
• Ability to monitor vital signs and report changes.
• Comfort with basic wound care and medication assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Assist with eating and drinking; feed when needed.
• Assist with bathroom care and changing adult briefs.
• Turn and reposition bedridden patients to prevent bedsores.
• Measure and record temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and report to nurse/doctor.
• Track food and fluid intake and output.
• Help patients get out of bed, sit in a chair, or walk with canes or walkers.
• Assist therapists with exercise routines and transfers using wheelchairs or lift equipment.
• Distribute medications if certified; change simple bandages and wound dressings; apply hot/cold compresses.

Medical and Treatment Support

Distribute medications if certified and allowed by state or facility rules.

Change simple bandages and wound dressings.

Apply hot or cold compresses as directed.
