Assistant Manager, Sustainability

Job Description

Summary:

AirAsia is seeking to recruit a new team member to deliver its sustainability commitments and cascade group-wide goals in our effort to meet the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance standards. S/he will report to the Manager of Group Sustainability and work towards addressing factors that contribute to the long-term sustainability of aviation.

What You'll Champion:

1. Lead the implementation of the Carbon Offsetting & Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) in accordance with ICAO guidelines.
2. Monitor, report, and verify carbon emissions of all relevant AOCs and submit annual reports as per regulatory requirements.
3. Maintain manuals, SOPs, and monitoring plans as part of department documentation and good governance practices.
4. Optimize and improve the performance of the carbon dashboards for data collection efficiency and accuracy.
5. Maintain regular contact with all AOC focal points and stakeholders to ensure AirAsia is updated on the latest CORSIA requirements.
6. Monitor and review CORSIA news and publications to ensure compliance with the latest regulatory requirements.
7. Create communication content to raise awareness of AirAsia’s sustainability agenda among employees and external stakeholders.
8. Strategize and propose sustainability initiatives to improve resource efficiency (waste management, utilities consumption).
9. Collect and analyze company-wide data on the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
10. Support the Sustainability team in implementing initiatives and producing the annual Sustainability Report.

The candidate should be:

• Enthusiastic and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Creative, detail-oriented, good with numbers, and solutions-focused.
• Comfortable with independently planning and managing time, including tracking and processing information in a fast-paced environment.

Who You Are:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analysis, or related field, with 1-3 years of experience (preferably in aviation or sustainability).
• Good knowledge of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), sustainability concepts & principles.
• Conversant with corporate responsibility best practices and sustainability reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with CORSIA and cross-functional project management is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Google Data Studio, and Airline Information Management System.
