Job description

Assistant Manager - Software Development

•Manage and coordinate application and/or module development.

•Assist Manager in researching, analyzing, generating new ideas and reporting on development.

•Assist Manager in managing software developers.

•Assist in the entire software development life cycle – analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.

• Ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the documentation throughout the software development life cycle.

•Assist in prioritization, scoping and scheduling processes for new products and features.

•Responsible for analysis of current programs including performance, diagnosis and troubleshooting of problematic programs, and designing solutions to problematic programming developed junior engineers.

•Document new/changes on the functional and design specification.

•Perform and manage functional analysis and application design activities.

•Perform and manage unit test, deployment and maintenance activities.

•Assist in maintaining collaboration with project manager and software architect to discuss about project requirements, design and technologies.

•Collaborate closely with software architect to discuss about project. requirements, design and technologies related research.

•Define specification which includes customization requirements for new software system.

•Work with the sales team to identify and qualify business opportunities.

•Provide guidance to team member to resolve customer technical issues.

•Involve in demonstrating and prototyping product integration in customer/partner environment. Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes were needed.

•Any other tasks assigned by management deem necessary as and when required.

Skills and specifications

•Technically strong, highly analytic and resolve issue on a timely manner.

•Considerable knowledge on IT engineering research methods, techniques, and procedures.

•Detail oriented, proven ability to work effectively both independently and in team-based environment.

•Ability to communicate well with the team with experienced in leading the junior.

•Solid understanding of web application security and full stack development.

•Knowledge in Information technology / web application security / client-server architectures and basic networking knowledge.

•Knowledge of database development, design and improvement within the MySQL/MariaDB DBMS.

•Must have strong development knowledge on Object-Oriented Software engineering (Java) & Web technologies (e.g., JSP, Servlets, XML, J2SE, J2EE).

•Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge, and experience with multi-tiered systems.

•Possess strong understanding and application of Scrum (AGILE methodologies) software development.

•Strong understanding of databases, caching, queueing, replication, load balancing and scalability: MariaDB and MySQL

•Familiar with UNIX, LINUX operating platform.

•Possess knowledge related to 2-factor authentication, such as OTP, PKI, RADIUS will be an advantage.

•Knowledge in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Secure Programming standards and best practice is a plus. Knowledge on DevOps is an advantage.

•Able to travel if required.

Education and Qualifications

•Preferably a degree in Software Engineering, Information Technologies, Computer Science or related course in computers/technology

•At least 5 years of working experience in the related field with minimum 3 years managerial experience is required for this position. Working experience in enterprise level of Java EE for example Java Struts, JSF implementation and Hibernate will be highly preferred.
