Job Description

This position will be stationed at Bintulu, Sarawak.

Roles include taking care of GAC branches in Bintulu, Miri, Tanjung Manis, among others.

The main Purpose of the job is to coordinate with, and not limited to, principals, vessel masters, GAC Operations staff, port & related authorities, cargo receivers, and suppliers to ensure a smooth turnaround of the vessel.

The job exists to communicate effectively with principals, provide accurate reports, liaise with concerned GAC personnel and operations staff, and maintain vessel files effectively.

The job contributes towards ensuring an efficient and effective service to principals, resulting in continuous and additional business.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Ensure timely, accurate, and effective management of services & supplies to the vessels as required by vessels/owners.
  2. Coordinate effectively with port operations staff to ensure smooth delivery of services and handling of vessel operations.
  3. Communicate with principals effectively, providing timely and accurate reports to assist in future voyage planning.
  4. Maintain all communication related to a port call in a separate folder in Outlook, and attach and save all relevant documents in GA.net.
  5. Input port call data in GACagent in a timely and accurate manner to ensure up-to-date information in real time.
  6. Serve as a role model in upholding GAC Code of Ethics and GAC Spirit, as it is in the best interest of the company and GAC Group.
  7. Perform any other duties requested or delegated by the manager to ensure the service level of the company is maintained.
  8. Facilitate the successful rollout and adoption of applications and releases, ensuring employees are effectively trained, providing comprehensive testing, and reporting on application usage for the local business area.
Job Requirements
  1. Minimum education: Higher secondary school.
  2. At least 2-3 years of experience in shipping operations or agency services.
  3. Experience in managing a team is an added advantage.
  4. Certification in the field of shipping from a competent authority.
  5. Good work ethics to comply with policies and procedures of the company, with cultural awareness for working with people from various backgrounds.
  6. Good English communication skills – both written and spoken.
  7. Proficient knowledge of computers, especially in MS Office - Excel & Outlook.
