Job summary

FWD Takaful Berhad in Malaysia seeks an experienced Senior Risk Manager to lead Enterprise Risk Management initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance with BNM and strengthening governance across business units.

You will mentor teams, oversee risk assessments for products and initiatives, and coordinate risk awareness programs while maintaining strong relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience in risk management with leadership exposure.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (BNM) and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Professional certifications (IERP, ICA, LOMA, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with BNM and regulatory guidelines, including reporting and remediation.
• Oversee risk assessments for new products, projects, outsourcing arrangements, and digital initiatives.
• Coordinate RCSA, ICP, KRIs, Risk Incidents, and Issue Management processes.
• Oversee operational risk profiling and mitigation of material risks.
• Lead incident management and escalation to group office as required.
• Contribute to risk-related projects and system enhancements for efficiency.
• Maintain relationships with regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise junior team members on risk and compliance best practices.
• Coordinate risk awareness programs and internal communications.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with BNM and other regulatory guidelines, including timely reporting and remediation of issues
• Support in overseeing risk assessments for new products, projects, outsourcing arrangements, and digital initiatives
• Support in facilitation of RCSA, ICP, KRIs, Risk Incidents, and Issue Management processes across the organization
• Support in overseeing operational risk profiling and ensure timely identification, assessment, and mitigation of material risks
• Support in incident management and response efforts, ensuring all incidents are reported and escalated to the group office when required
• Contribute to risk-related projects and system enhancements to improve efficiency and compliance monitoring
• Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Group FWD, business units) and external parties (regulators, auditors)
• Mentor and supervise junior team members and provide guidance on risk and compliance best practices
• Coordinate risk awareness programs, training sessions, and internal communications

About you

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, Business Administration, or related field
• Minimum 6 years of experience in risk management, with 4 years in a Senior Executive / Manager role
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (BNM) and enterprise risk frameworks, especially ORM and ORR
• Professional certifications (IERP, ICA, LOMA, etc.)
• Strong understanding of risk management principles and regulatory requirements
• Familiar with BNM regulatory requirements, governance standards, and reporting (e.g., ORR)
• Proficiency in risk assessment tools and compliance monitoring systems
• Knowledgeable in insurance/takaful operational processes, fraud risk and privacy impact analysis
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
