Assistant Manager, Research & Development [Household and Personal Care products]

New Product Development & Technical Support

To assist in execute out all activities involved in technical development of new products or improvement of existing products in accordance with the company’s policy and standard, including working closely with Marketing, Commercial, Co-packers in achieving results.

To coordinate trial run and conduct process validation of new formulation assigned by HOD.

To assist in obtain necessary technical information for product safety assessment and other relevant application (e.g. Halal, Eco-label, etc). Compilation and maintaining of Product Information File.

2. Quality Improvement

To assist in execute out the new technology and ingredients which inject value and improve the standards and quality of products assigned by HOD.

To develop new testing method to substantiate product performance/claim to comply with regulation/endorsement.

3. Cost Optimization

Initiative to propose to HOD area of improvement for formula cost optimization.

To execute out the cost saving project assigned by HOD.

4. People Management & Development

Monitoring and conduct appropriate training to chemist/laboratory technicians in areas pertaining to formulation development and lab safety.

Assist in achieving departmental set targets within the constraints of resources and policies.

5. Occupational Safety & Health, System Compliance, Internal Controls, GMP & 5S

Ensure that all products developed meet safety and regulatory requirements and provide supporting technical data for claim substantiation where applicable.

To assist Senior Manager, R&D in the smooth running of the laboratory by supervising the chemist, lab technicians on their daily work, maintaining the laboratory equipment and cleanliness of the laboratory. Upgrade or purchasing of new equipment to support R&D activities.

6. Others

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Degree in Science discipline (Chemistry/Biology/Food Technology) or relevant

Team player and able to work independently

Good interpersonal skills and effective communication

Detailed and analytical, resourceful and able to work with team mate

Ability to supervise a team of laboratory technicians

Computer literacy : Microsoft Office and Ecology

Sense of urgency & self motivated

5 years relevant experience in product development and formulation of household & personal care products

Exposure to ISO 9001:2008 and GMP standard requirement.

Familiarwith product certification/registration and Halal requirements
