Job overview

Assistant Manager Planner - Engineering is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and minimal downtime. This role involves developing preventive maintenance schedules, managing work orders, coordinating with various teams, and optimizing maintenance resources.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, implement, and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance tasks based on equipment needs and production schedules.
  • Ensure timely execution of maintenance activities to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and external vendors to plan major overhauls and repairs.

2. Work Order & Resource Management

  • Manage work orders and maintenance requests using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)/SAP.
  • Assign maintenance tasks to technicians and ensure proper allocation of resources.
  • Maintain records of completed maintenance work, spare parts usage, and equipment history.

3. Spare Parts & Inventory Control

  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of critical spare parts.
  • Work with procurement teams to ensure timely ordering of required materials.
  • Optimize spare parts stock to reduce costs without impacting maintenance efficiency.

4. Process Improvement & Reliability

  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, recurring failures, and areas for improvement.
  • Assist in implementing reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and longevity.

5. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance planning activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities for audits and compliance.
  • Work with safety teams to implement preventive measures to reduce workplace hazards.

6. Coordination & Reporting

  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to align maintenance schedules with operational needs.
  • Generate maintenance reports, including downtime analysis and KPI tracking.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in budgeting and cost analysis for maintenance activities.

What We’re Looking For:

? Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Maintenance Engineering.
? 5+ years of experience in maintenance planning, asset management, or engineering maintenance.
? Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
? Proficiency in CMMS software (SAP PM, Maximo, or similar).
? Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial maintenance principles.
? Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, etc.).
? Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Reliability Engineering concepts.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
