Job summary

Hong Leong Bank in Malaysia seeks an experienced analytics professional to lead regulatory reporting and data analytics for merchant portfolios. You will consolidate reports for external regulators and payment networks while validating data across MCC codes, postcodes and settlements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, consolidate and submit routine regulatory and management reports to external regulators and payment networks (e.g. BNM, PayNet) with accuracy and compliance.
• Extract raw merchant transaction feeds and perform data validation, reconciling MCCs, postcodes, settlement dates and volumes.
• Build and maintain analytical models for portfolio optimization, segmentation, pricing and forecasting.

Functional (job responsibilities)

1. Regulatory & Management Reporting: Prepare, consolidate, and submit routine departmental
   management reports and statutory/regulatory reports to external regulators and payment networks (e.g. BNM, PayNet), ensuring accuracy and full compliance with reporting guidelines.
2. Data Extraction & Reconciliation: Extract raw merchant transaction feeds and perform rigorous data validation — reconciling Merchant Category Codes (MCC), postcodes, settlement dates, and transaction volumes, and identifying duplicate or anomalous records.
3. Portfolio Analytics & Business Modelling: Build and maintain analytical models to support portfolio optimization — merchant segmentation, yield and pricing analysis, acquiring/remittance volume forecasting, and scenario/what-if modelling to inform business line strategy and target-setting.
4. Dashboards & Self-Service Reporting: Design and maintain SQL/Power BI-driven dashboards giving business leads real-time visibility into merchant trends, portfolio health, and yield performance, reducing reliance on manual ad-hoc requests.
5. UAT & New Reporting/Model Setup: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new internal reporting, regulatory requirements, or analytical models, validating data definitions and logic against source files from IT.

Managerial (team/group responsibilities)

1. On-Time Delivery: Manage reporting and analytics calendars to guarantee 100% on-time submission for internal deadlines, external regulatory bodies, and business review cycles.
2. Clearance & Approval Governance: Manage end-to-end clearance of working files, models, and evidence packages through internal Checkers, Compliance, Operational Risk, and Head of
   Department for necessary approvals prior to final submission.
3. Data Sourcing & Stakeholder Liaison: Proactively liaise with data providers (Card MIS, IT, Group Operations, external vendors) to acquire source files, resolve data issues, and validate assumptions.

Organizational (organizational responsibilities)

1. Process Automation: Identify manual processes across reporting and analytics workflows and introduce automation (SQL, Power BI, Python where applicable) to reduce preparation time and error rates.
2. Governance & Audit Trail: Maintain complete, auditable archives of working files, models, methodology notes, email approvals, and submission receipts.
