A leading company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Procurement Manager to optimize procurement strategies and manage vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with at least 5 years of experience in procurement. Responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
We are looking for an Assistant Procurement Manager to independently manage sourcing, vendor relationships, and procurement strategies while ensuring compliance and cost efficiency. This role reports directly to the Finance Manager and CFO, requiring strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for keying in stock into the POS system upon receiving goods from suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost and efficiency.
- Source and evaluate suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to secure favorable terms.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement planning with relevant departments.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Manage vendor relationships, conducting performance evaluations and risk assessments.
- Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align procurement with business objectives.
- Prepare procurement reports for the Finance Manager and CFO, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Key in stock into the POS system upon receiving goods from suppliers, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
- Support the development of SOPs for procurement workflows and vendor management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience with inventory control and procurement planning.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., Dynamics 365, POS systems).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently without direct staff support.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
