Job Purpose

To be part of the dynamic IFRS 17 cross-disciplinary reporting team, supporting and participating in the transition to IFRS 17 BAU activities and ongoing Group Finance projects. You will report to the IFRS 17 Finance lead and support the business in the regular closing under the new IFRS 17 standard, analyze and optimize IFRS 17 financial processes, and develop and implement automated solutions.

The Role:
  • Leverage tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources to support IFRS 17 financial closings, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Perform and support reconciliation of IFRS 17 reporting system outputs, ledger postings, and related IFRS 17 accounts reconciliation.
  • Participate in the monthly closing process for insurance/takaful entities in Malaysia and audit-related work.
  • Analyze business results and outputs from IFRS 17 reporting systems.
  • Develop and implement financial automation processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Analyze existing financial processes to identify areas for improvement and create solutions.
  • Collaborate with finance and IT departments to ensure automation goals align with company objectives and compliance.
  • Monitor the performance and accuracy of automated systems to ensure data consistency and quality.
  • Train and support team members in using automation tools and adapting to new processes.
  • Address issues or bottlenecks in automation processes promptly.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine systems for maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Support ad-hoc activities as needed.
  • Consider business and regulatory compliance risks and take steps to mitigate them.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, emerging threats, and technologies.
  • Highlight potential risks and share best practices in risk management.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
The Person:
  • Degree or Diploma in Accountancy, Computer Science, or equivalent professional qualifications.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of local/IFRS reporting standards; experience in insurance/takaful industry is advantageous.
  • Problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and result-driven.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, meticulous attention to detail.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python or Java, and financial software.
  • High integrity, accountability, and a positive attitude toward teamwork.
  • Proactive in improving processes and adaptable to change.
