We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager, Logistics, to join our growing team in Seberang Jaya, Penang, Malaysia. Your Responsibilities
- Oversee and Manage Logistics Operations: Coordinate and facilitate all incoming and outgoing shipments for projects and non-project related activities. This includes ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods, materials, and equipment both domestically and internationally. You will be responsible for the entire shipment lifecycle, from initial planning to final delivery.
- Optimize Transportation and Routing: Identify optimal shipping and transportation routes, taking into account cost, speed, compliance, and security requirements. This involves researching and evaluating different transportation options, negotiating rates with carriers, and implementing strategies to minimize transportation costs.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee adherence to all relevant import/export regulations, customs procedures, and trade agreements. You'll be responsible for the accurate preparation and submission of customs documentation, ensuring smooth clearance of shipments through customs.
- Vendor Management and Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with logistics providers, including shipping agents, freight forwarders, and warehouse operators. This includes negotiating competitive rates, monitoring performance, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Inventory Control and Warehouse Management: Manage inventory levels in bonded and non-bonded warehouses, ensuring accurate records and minimizing discrepancies. You'll oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods, and implement strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce storage costs.
- LMW Compliance and Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly and yearly License Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations and requirements. You will work closely with the factory team to maintain full compliance with all aspects of LMW regulations.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. You'll analyze logistics data, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to streamline processes and optimize performance.
Your Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics Management, Transportation Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the logistics/transportation field, with experience in both domestic and international shipping operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing relationships with logistics providers and negotiating contracts.
- Strong understanding of supply chain and logistics processes and solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of Incoterms and international trade regulations.
- Familiarity with bonded warehouse operations and License Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a distinct advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
- Highly analytical with the ability to identify and solve logistics-related problems.
- Meticulous with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
