What you are expected to do:

Legal

  1. Draft, review, and advise all manner of agreements (particularly for customers, suppliers, business partners, NDAs, Tech Agreement).
  2. Familiarity and experience with documents (including but not limited to due diligence, share sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements) and commercial issues including corporate/commercial matters such as mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements.
  3. Able to understand and advise on regulatory compliance concerning the legislation applicable to the business such as the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010 (CRAA), Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), Financial Services Act, Islamic Financial Services Act, BNM Policies and Guidelines, Multimedia and Communication Act, Companies Act, Bursa Listing.
  4. Negotiate/secure best commercial position for the company whilst applying the law and taking cognizance of other relevant factors.
  5. Advise and monitor potential litigation and litigation matters including preparing the necessary internal and external reports.
  6. Deal and manage external counsel.
  7. Understand litigation, dispute resolution, strategy, and dispute resolution. Willingness and ability to negotiate and contest opposing parties.
  8. Ability and willingness to think commercially and formulate solutions to complex commercial situations.

Regulatory (Assistance)

  1. Assist regulatory and compliance team in any legal matters.
  2. Establish rapport with the relevant regulators where necessary, i.e. CRA Registrar, BNM, PDPA commissioner, Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission, PDRM.
  3. Discuss and negotiate with regulators to achieve best case scenario. Multitasking with dynamic fast-paced environment.
  4. Draft and review regulatory related correspondences.
  5. Willingness to travel for meetings with regulators.
What you'll need to succeed:
  1. Bachelor’s/master’s degree in law and regulations or a related field.
  2. 5+ years’ experience in combined experience in corporate and litigation practice (tech, financial industry, PLC, MNC, GLC or GLIC).
  3. Proven ability to draft & review Tech Agreements.
  4. Strong decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
  5. Comfortable working under pressure & prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
