Legal
- Drafting, reviewing, and advising on various agreements (particularly for customers, suppliers, business partners, NDAs).
- Experience with documents such as due diligence reports, share sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, and familiarity with corporate/commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, financing arrangements.
- Understanding and advising on regulatory compliance concerning legislation such as the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010 (CRAA), Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), Financial Services Act, Islamic Financial Services Act, BNM Policies and Guidelines, Multimedia and Communication Act, Companies Act, Bursa Listing Requirements, and related subsidiary legislation, regulations, and orders.
- Applying the law to contracts, negotiations, and client advice, with a focus on PDPA and CRAA.
- Negotiating to secure the best commercial position for the company while applying legal principles and considering other relevant factors.
- Monitoring potential litigation and managing litigation matters, including preparing internal and external reports.
- Managing external counsel and understanding litigation and dispute resolution strategies, with a willingness to negotiate and contest opposing parties.
- Thinking commercially to formulate solutions to complex commercial situations.
Regulatory Assistance
- Supporting the regulatory and compliance team on legal matters.
- Establishing rapport with regulators such as CRA Registrar, BNM, PDPA Commissioner, Bursa Malaysia, Securities Commission, PDRM.
- Negotiating with regulators to achieve favorable outcomes, drafting and reviewing regulatory correspondences, and traveling for meetings as needed.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate and litigation practice within the financial industry, PLC, MNC, GLC, or GLIC. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure, with strong communication, decision-making, and time management skills, is essential.
