Job Summary

The Assistant Store Manager role is an essential part of the store leadership team, impacting team member and guest experience every day. Assistant Store Managers are responsible for leading and coaching team members, holding the team accountable to results, and ensuring an outstanding guest experience in the store. They are also responsible for accomplishing administrative and operational activities, including floor management and scheduling.

Core Responsibilities of the Job

Leadership and People Management

  • Create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment by welcoming and celebrating differences to ensure a supportive and engaging experience for all team members and guests.
  • Support the Store Manager in building a strong and diverse team that includes team members with various experiences, backgrounds, and skillsets to drive store operations.
  • Support ongoing learning and development of team members by providing feedback, coaching, mentoring, and career guidance, and addressing performance concerns.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and performance management activities.
  • Engage in career discussions to support team members' growth and understanding of how working at lululemon contributes to their personal development.
  • Provide recognition, conduct gap assessments, and document performance to support career and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to plan and prepare team member schedules based on labor needs, availability, and budget considerations.

Working with Others

  • Establish supportive relationships with team members, focusing on development.
  • Collaborate to ensure an optimal guest experience, supporting store operations.

Guest Experience

  • Support team members to deliver excellent guest service, including assessing needs, providing product education, and supporting transactions and omnichannel programs.
  • Provide floor coverage to meet business, team, and guest needs.
  • Resolve guest feedback and issues, including escalations and emergencies.
  • Increase brand awareness through community engagement and building relationships with partners and influencers.

Operations

  • Implement the Store Manager’s vision and communicate it to the team.
  • Review business data and metrics to inform planning.
  • Manage store budget, labor, expenses, and P&L with the Store Manager.
  • Lead salesfloor operations, including coverage and decision-making.
  • Open and close the store per checklists.
  • Maintain safety policies and ensure a safe work environment.

Budget Responsibility

  • Manage aspects of the store’s budget and labor hours.

People Management

  • Lead a subset of store employees during shifts or as delegated.

Experience: Leadership or people management experience.

Assets: High School diploma or higher; retail or sales management experience preferred.
