Assistant Manager – Financial Planning & Business Analyst

The FPNA Assistant Manager will focus on financial planning and analysis, supporting budget preparation, forecasting, and performance reporting. The role’s responsibilities includes analyzing financial data, identifying variances, and providing insights to improve financial performance. This role involves collaboration with various departments to ensure accurate financial planning and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning & Budgeting

• Assist in preparing annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term financial plans for the group’s businesses, aligning with regional targets.

• Develop financial models to analyze store performance, profitability, and cost-saving opportunities (e.g., inventory holding, usage variance & wastage reduction).

2. Performance Analysis & Reporting

• Develop, maintain, and analyse budgets & periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs; and advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.

• Monitor KPIs (e.g., sales, profitability, inventory turnover) and prepare monthly/quarterly reports for management, highlighting variances against budgets.

• Conduct variance analysis to identify operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.

• Analyse business operations, trends, resources utilisation, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.

3. Strategic Planning & Analysis

• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and risks.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to align with business goals.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. procurement, operations) to optimize financial performance.

• To support the Director of Business Strategy in developing comprehensive business cases for projects, as required by the business.

4. Operational Support

• Collaborate with regional managers to optimize inventory control, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns.

• Ensure compliance with financial standards (e.g., halal regulations, food safety costs) in financial planning.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration

• Liaise between HQ finance teams and store operations to communicate financial goals and policies.

• Support ad-hoc analysis for senior management, such as market trend assessments or expansion feasibility studies.

6. Systems & Process Improvement

• Utilize ERP systems (e.g. Xilnex, Business Central, SAP, Oracle) for data consolidation and reporting automation.

• Streamline FP&A processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

• Review the company's systems, analyse risk, and project contract and costing

7. Other duties

• Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time to support business needs.

Qualifications :

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; CPA/CFA or progress toward certification is a plus.

• 3–5 years in FP&A, preferably in retail, FMCG or F&B sectors. Experience with multi-store operations is advantageous.

• Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI).

• Strong analytical & communication skills to present findings to non-finance stakeholders.

• Knowledge of retail-specific metrics (e.g., shrinkage, same-store sales growth)
