Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Lead the development of the company’s financial strategy, including long-term financial planning and short-term budgeting.
- Conduct financial analysis to track performance and provide insights on areas of opportunity or concern.
- Monitor key financial metrics and provide recommendations to management based on financial data.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare and manage the company’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of forecasts, adjusting for any changes in business operations, market conditions, or financial performance.
- Provide insights into budget variances and assist departments with financial planning and cost control.
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including statements of comprehensive income, statements of financial positions, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Present financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial insights, trends, and recommendations.
Cash Flow and Liquidity Management:
- Monitor the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and strategic investments.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize working capital, including managing accounts receivable and payable.
Financial Risk Management:
- Identify potential financial risks, such as market fluctuations, credit risks, and operational risks, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Oversee insurance coverage, hedging strategies, and other risk management activities.
- Ensure the organization complies with all financial regulations and industry standards.
Cost Control and Profitability Improvement:
- Analyze costs and operational efficiencies, providing recommendations for cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Monitor profit margins, return on investment (ROI), and other key profitability indicators.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify areas where profitability can be enhanced without compromising on quality or performance.
- Coordinate with sales department on product costing.
Tax Planning and Compliance:
- Oversee tax planning and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax consultants to prepare and file tax returns.
- Develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax rules and regulations.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence within the finance department.
- Ensure the finance team has the tools and resources needed to meet departmental and company goals.
- Set targets for the team members and supervise all accounting and finance personnel.
Audit and Compliance Oversight:
- Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Oversee internal control systems to protect financial assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Ensure financial data is in compliance with corporate governance and regulatory requirements.
Internal Control and Risk Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting and operations.
- Establish internal control procedures to prevent and detect errors or fraud in financial transactions.
- Review the internal audit conducted by internal auditors on the company’s internal processes and systems to evaluate their effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and corporate governance practices, preventing financial risks such as fraud or misappropriation of funds.
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to assess internal controls and compliance with relevant laws and standards.
Others:
- Other ad-hoc activity or functions as and when required by superior.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum LCCI Higher or Certificate in Accounting, preferably Diploma in accounting or other related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in preparing manufacturing accounts and understanding of taxation will be an added advantage.
- Leadership style and interpersonal skills suitable for directing, training, and motivating subordinates.
- Good communication and analytical skills, able to coordinate with all levels of staff.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Computer literacy and excellent knowledge of MS Office.
- Must be able to travel overseas at least 2 weeks/month.
- Malaysian citizen only.
