Job summary

SDGI Bintulu and other SDGI entities are seeking an Assistant Manager, Finance to lead accounting, financial reporting and compliance in Malaysia. The role involves finalising management reports and statutory statements in accordance with IFRS and corporate policies, supporting decision-making with in-depth financial analysis, and managing forecasts and working capital.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) or a degree in accountancy.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in FMCG or multinational company environments. Audit experience would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise overall accounting and financial matters, including finalization of management reports and statutory financial statements in line with International accounting standards and SDG Group policies.
• Ensure timely and high-quality submissions to Group Finance, including financial analytics and monthly/quarterly management reports.
• Support business decisions through in-depth financial and operational performance analysis, including segment reporting, product costing, margins and overheads allocation.
• Manage and monitor financial forecasts to achieve targets.
• Oversee working capital and funding planning, optimize purchases, monitor debtors aging for timely collections.
• Review Annual Budget with business, challenge sessions and ensure underlying assumptions are supported.
• Review Capex Budget and proposals; approve capex in system for acquisition or write-off.
• Conduct balance sheet reviews for WIP capitalization, stock aging, receivables aging, provisions, accruals and intercompany balances.
• Liaise with external auditors and review audit reports and internal controls prior to finalization.
• Ensure timely monthly progress reports to the Board.
• Assist with Board papers and management proposals, presenting financial implications and approvals.
• Tax support – finalize tax computation and transfer pricing documentation with Group Tax; manage tax matters for tax efficiency.
• Review and improve internal controls, governance processes and ensure adherence to SDG Group Finance Policies and Limits of Authority.
• Insurance support – review and manage company insurance policies for cost-effectiveness and optimal coverage.
• Upskill and coach finance staff to enhance competencies and performance.
• Other related functions as required.

(1) Manage and supervise the overall accounting and financial matters, including finalization of management reports and statutory financial statements that are in strict compliance with the International accounting standards and SDG Group policies.

(2) Ensure timely and enhance quality submissions to Group Finance, which amongst others include financial analytics, monthly and quarterly financial and management reports.

(3) Support business decisions through an in-depth understanding and analysis of financial and operational performance, including review of segmental reporting, product costing, margins calculations and overheads allocation, to ensure accuracy in order to support business decisions.

(4) Manage and monitor financial forecasts to ensure financial targets are achieved

(5) Ensure effective management of working capital and funding requirements which amongst others require optimization of purchases, inventories, close monitoring on debtors aging to timely collections as well as proper planning and accurate forecasting.

(6) Review of Annual Budget, including participation in the challenge sessions with the business to ensure assumptions underlying the budget are supported.

(7) Review Capex Budget and capex proposal papers for utilization. Approve capex request in system for acquisition and write-off/ disposal.

(8) Conduct balance sheet reviews covering work-in-progress capitalization, stock aging, receivables aging, provisions, accruals and intercompany balances to ensure completeness, accuracy and timely resolution of key account balances.

(9) Liaison with external auditors including review of audit reports and internal control matters prior to finalization.

(10) Ensure timely and quality submission of monthly progress report to the Board.

(11) Assist with the Board papers and related management proposals, ensuring clear presentation of key matters, financial implications, recommendations and required approvals.

(12) Tax Support – Support the finalization of tax computation and transfer pricing documentation along with Group Tax. Manage all tax matters to ensure tax efficiencies and to manage tax risk effectively

(13) Review and improve internal controls, corporate governance processes as well as to ensure SDG Group Finance Policies and Procedures and Limits of Authority (LOA) are strictly adhered to.

(14) Insurance Support – Review and manage the company insurance policies to ensure optimal insurance coverage which are cost effective and insurance claims are maximized and expedited

(15) Uplift the finance staff strength and provide training and coaching to enhance staff competencies and performances

(16) Other related functions may be required from time to time.

Job Requirement
