Job Summary:
The Assistant Finance Manager will support the CFO in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing financial insights for strategic decision-making. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls, particularly in alignment with the requirements of a public listed company. The candidate must be based in Penang but should be willing to travel to Kuala Lumpur when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with MFRS/IFRS, Bursa Malaysia listing requirements, and other relevant regulations.
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, Bursa announcements, and investor presentations.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and accurate filings.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and financial projections.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
Financial Analysis & Advisory:
- Conduct financial analysis to provide insights for business strategy and decision-making.
- Assist in profitability analysis, cost control, and risk assessment.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Treasury & Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow, banking activities, and working capital management.
- Assist in managing corporate financing, loan facilities, and investment activities.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with business units, external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
- Support the CFO in investor relations by preparing financial data for briefings and reports.
Requirements:
- Based in Penang but willing to travel to Kuala Lumpur when required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA, CIMA) is highly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting, in a local public-listed company.
- Extensive experience in audit environment, or work experience in audit firm is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MFRS, Bursa Malaysia regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and support executive-level decision-making.
