Job summary

Amari Hotels & Resorts is seeking an Assistant Manager, Engineering to lead building systems operations, maintenance and upgrade projects in our Penang property. You will report to the Manager, Engineering and collaborate with the GM/HM and VP, Project Engineering to ensure safe, efficient and compliant hotel operations.

Responsibilities

• In the absence of the Manager, Engineering to take over all roles and responsibilities of the Manager Engineering, reporting to GM/HM and VP, Project Engineering.
• Ensure discipline and adherence to statutory laws and company policies by engineering department team members.
• Ensure compliance with grooming standards within the engineering department.
• Assist in operation, maintenance, upgrade and installation of building systems including ELV, CCTV, MATV, BAS, Telephony & Data, HVAC, structural envelope, pools and sanitary systems.
• Champion energy conservation with year-on-year reports showing reductions in consumption; take readings of water, fuel and electricity; submit reports to GM; conduct feasibility studies of saving initiatives.
• Assist in managing maintenance contracts (standby generators, high voltage components & transformers) per OHG policies; oversee scopes, proposals, and monitoring of work and reports.
• Assist in planning and monitoring Planned Preventative Maintenance of all building systems to ensure reliability, energy efficiency, reduced life cycle cost and Total Cost of Ownership.
• Oversee outsourced contract work: scope of works, proposals, supervision, acceptance, commissioning and testing, and reporting.
• Support renovation and new design work with attention to design and statutory compliance issues.
• Assist in preparing and managing POMEC operational and CAPEX budgets to meet OHG Technical Standards and cost controls.
• Plan and manage property Long Term Replacement Plan to optimize Life Cycle Costing and Total Cost of Ownership.
• Schedule and manage POMEC manpower to ensure cost-effective, safe and reliable operations for guests and team members.
• Adhere to OHG Fire Life & Safety Matrix to ensure critical services function during emergencies; participate in annual Fire Life & Safety Audit; coordinate Emergency Response Team scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and governmental statutory requirements; address guest and team member engineering issues promptly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of Assistant Manager, Engineering

• In the absence of the Manager, Engineering to take over all roles and responsibilities of the Manager Engineering, reporting directly to the GM/HM of his property and to the VP, Project Engineering.
• Carry out any task, function or action detailed to him by the Manager, Engineering; that may be reasonably expected of him in performance of his duties as a senior engineering manager.
• Ensure discipline and obedience to all statutory laws and company polices by engineering department team members.
• Ensure complete compliance to company grooming standards at all times within the engineering department.
• Assist the Manage, Engineering with the operation, maintenance, upgrade and installation of all building systems including (but not limited to)

• Champion all aspects of energy conservation and consumption, producing year on year reports demonstrating a sustainable reduction in energy consumption.
  • Taking periodic readings of water, fuel and electricity consumption.
  • Analyze and submit reports to GM.
  • Carry out feasibility study of potential energy saving initiatives.
• Assist the Manage, Engineering to manage (prepare scopes of work, review proposals, oversee work and monitor reports) maintenance contracts as detailed in the OHG Engineering Polices, including but not limited to
  • Standby Generators
  • High Voltage Electrical Systems Components & Transformers
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to prepare, schedule, and monitor all aspect of Planned Preventative Maintenance of all building systems and machinery to ensure optimum reliability, low and efficient energy consumption, reduced life cycle costing and reduced Total Cost of Ownership.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to manage outsourced contract work including preparation of Scope of Works, review of proposal, oversee and supervise works, acceptance, commissioning and testing and monitor reports.
• Assist in preparation, review and overseeing of renovation and new design work. Paying attention to design and statutory compliance issues.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to prepare and manage POMEC operational budget to meet unit operational demands and OHG Technical Standards. Paying due diligence to cost control and quality standards simultaneously.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to prepare and manage POMEC CAPEX budget to meet unit operational demands and OHG Technical Standards.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to prepare and manage property Long Term Replacement Plan ensuring plant and machinery in operated with due respect to Life Cycle Costing and Total Cost of Ownership.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to schedule and manage the POMEC manpower schedule to ensure the most cost effective yet efficient operation of the property ensuring safe and reliable conditions for guests and team members
• Adhere to the OHG Fire Life & Safety Matrix to ensure optimum performance of the properties essential services during an emergency situation.
• Prepare for, participate in, and follow up on the OHG Annual Fire Life & Safety Audit.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to manager and monitor FLS training and Emergency Response Team scheduling to ensure 24/7 coverage in order to effectively deal with incidents.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and governmental statutory requirements.
• Assist the Manager, Engineering to manage Team Member breakdown work orders to provide the most cost effective yet quality driven response to fixing guest and team member related engineering issues.
• Ensure a safe work environment to all Team Members.
• Offer technical support to the General Managers with engineering issues, CAPEX replacements reviews and upgrade/ replacement of main machinery
