JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Assistant Manager with expertise in SCADA systems, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and control systems. The candidate will manage, design, and implement automation projects, supporting operations with real-time data systems and process optimization.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of SCADA and HMI systems across facilities. Explore AI-driven solutions to enhance system efficiency, predictive maintenance, and decision-making. Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in automation and industrial AI.
  2. Manage control systems, including PLC programming, system tuning, troubleshooting, and upgrades. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement automation strategies aligned with operational goals.
  3. Monitor and optimize control loops to ensure performance, safety, and compliance. Support system audits, cybersecurity, and backup processes for SCADA and control environments.
  4. Possess hands-on experience with 22kV systems downstream, including design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of low-voltage electrical infrastructure. Be responsible for on-call duties, emergency response, and addressing breakdowns promptly. Perform additional duties as assigned by superiors.
  5. Conduct schedule risk assessments considering weather delays, permitting issues, or electrical interconnection delays. Evaluate the impact of change orders and design revisions on maintenance and project timelines. Propose mitigation strategies and alternative plans.
  6. Prepare monthly electricity reports in coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure data accuracy.
  7. Ensure safety standards are adhered to throughout the department, complying with local legislation such as Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, EMEER 2008, OSHA, FMA, and PTP. Fulfill duties as stipulated in these regulations.
  8. Implement and uphold Information Security (IS) and IT policies to protect organizational information, assets, and intellectual property.
  9. Record and report unsafe systems and non-conformances to superiors, ensuring corrective actions are taken.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or related field.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in SCADA, HMI, PLC programming, or automation control systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Deep understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Profibus). Attention to detail and accuracy.
  4. Hands-on experience with SCADA platforms such as Wonderware (Aveva Platform), Ignition, GE iFIX, MOXA, Siemens WinCC (TIA Portal). Excellent communication skills in English and Malay.
  5. Knowledge of AI applications in industrial settings; familiarity with cybersecurity standards is a plus.
  6. Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  7. Experience in port, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure environments. Leadership potential to manage multidisciplinary teams.
