Lead regulatory compliance risk and reviews of the organization, working in collaboration with the Regulatory Compliance (RC) team to develop compliance standards and practices across the organization/business units.

Manage and lead the end-to-end process of all compliance initiatives and projects, primarily focusing on AML activities, providing direction to the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team for implementation.

Assist the AML Manager in managing and implementing the organization’s overall regulatory compliance governance and framework, including AML/CFT and Sanction compliance programs.

Conduct compliance risk assessments, including reports on ML/TF inherent risks, AML/CFT mitigating controls, ongoing compliance status, and findings of infringements with recommended actions. This includes institutional ML/TF (IRA), product and business risk assessments, and reviewing policies, procedures, and processes of all business units to ensure regulatory compliance.

Ensure effective implementation of AML/CFT policies and procedures across all business units, including robust CDD/ECDD processes, periodic reviews, proper customer risk profiling, screening, AML/CFT controls, and monitoring. Analyze and conduct internal due diligence reviews/KYC on high-risk cases escalated by business units.

Review compliance and regulatory risks through thematic/periodic monitoring reviews, produce reports, and oversee corrective actions until closure, in compliance with AML/CFT laws and policies.

Handle AML/CFT transaction monitoring activities, review alerts, conduct STR investigations, and investigate suspicious transactions or high-risk customers, including fraud and law enforcement investigations. Establish internal criteria and red flags for detecting suspicious transactions, maintain negative lists, and ensure effective AML operations and system management.

Act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), advise management on suspicious transactions, liaise with regulators, and handle audit reviews (internal & external).

Update and implement group compliance policies, manuals, procedures, systems, and controls to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including AML/CFT regulations and best practices.

Maintain proper records and provide periodic reports to the Board and Risk Management Committee (BRC) on non-compliance incidents, AML/CFT reporting, and compliance issues.

Provide regulatory advice to business units on AML/CFT and Sanction matters, supervise designated compliance officers, and conduct compliance and AML/CFT awareness training programs.

Minimum job requirements (education & experience):

Bachelor’s/University Degree from a recognized university or equivalent in compliance-related disciplines, preferably with AML/CFT professional certification.

At least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience within the financial services industry, including a minimum of 1 year in a managerial role.

Experience in compliance functions, preferably gained from banking or financial credit services industry.
