Job summary

DKSH in Malaysia and Brunei seeks an Assistant Manager, Finance to ensure accurate accounting and robust reporting across Business Units. You will oversee close cycles, internal controls, and audit deliverables while supporting major finance initiatives to safeguard governance and integrity.

You will coordinate with BPO, FBP and operational units to resolve complex accounting matters, review reconciliations, and assist in drafting financial statements and audits.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role with exposure to country controlling, audit, accounting, or compliance.
• Practical knowledge of local and international accounting standards and strong IT systems understanding.

About The Role

The Assistant Manager, Finance ensures accurate and compliant financial accounting and reporting across assigned Business Units within DKSH's Central Services function in Malaysia and Brunei, through strong operational oversight and effective internal controls. This role drives the resolution of complex accounting matters, oversees key financial close and audit deliverables, and supports major finance initiatives to maintain high standards of financial integrity and governance.

What You Will Deliver

• Oversee day-to-day financial accounting activities, ensuring all postings are accurate, timely, compliant with accounting standards, and supported by robust internal controls
• Continuously review and enhance accounting processes to uphold high data integrity and operational efficiency across assigned Business Units
• Oversee the finance operations of assigned Business Units to ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory compliance
• Lead the resolution of complex accounting matters by coordinating across key stakeholders including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) teams, Finance Business Partnering (FBP), and relevant operational units, ensuring issues are investigated, escalated where needed, and resolved in a timely and compliant manner
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, proper documentation, and adherence to corporate accounting policies and internal control requirements
• Review, validate, and submit monthly hard close and annual year-end close reporting packages, ensuring all deliverables meet group timelines, accounting standards, and audit expectations
• Manage end-to-end financial accounting and reporting processes, including preparation of management accounts, review of journal entries, maintenance of master data governance, development of draft financial statements, and coordination of statutory audits
• Provide leadership and support to ensure timely closure of audit queries and full compliance with regulatory requirements
• Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, system upgrades, or migration exercises, ensuring smooth integration into existing accounting processes, accurate financial impact assessment, and proper documentation
• Take initiative to independently drive key accounting, finance, and project management topics, providing guidance and support to the team where needed
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous self-learning to enhance capabilities in accounting, finance, and project management

What You Bring

• Degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; a Degree in Business Studies is an added advantage
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with exposure to country controlling, audit, accounting, or compliance functions
• Solid knowledge of finance and accounting processes, IT systems, contract management, and a sound understanding of the business and industry
• Practical application of local and international accounting standards and principles across financial activities
• Experience working in an SAP accounting environment is an added advantage
• Strong research and analytical abilities, including statistical analysis and interpretation of financial data
• Strong interest and competency in technology and systems that enhance internal control effectiveness and efficiency
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
