ASSISTANT GROUP FINANCE MANAGER / MANAGER
- Lead the preparation, consolidation, and review of Group financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting in compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), regulatory, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare annual statutory financial statements and liaise with auditors for timely completion and submission.
- Analyze monthly and quarterly financial performance, including variance analysis against budget, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decisions.
- Prepare forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow planning reports for management and board review.
2. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Responsible for income tax computations, deferred tax analysis, and corporate tax planning strategies to optimize tax efficiency.
- Manage compliance with local tax laws and regulations, including liaising with tax agents on corporate tax, SST, and transfer pricing issues.
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance including Companies Act, Income Tax Act, and other relevant legislations.
3. Group Consolidation & Financial Strategy
- Handle group consolidation of multiple subsidiaries and related companies, including inter-company transactions and eliminations.
- Work closely with senior management to develop and monitor financial strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the management for performance improvement, cost control, and investment decisions.
- Lead and manage the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to auditor queries, and ensuring timely audit completion.
- Serve as a key liaison with external parties such as auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, bankers, and legal advisors on all financial and statutory matters.
5. Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
- Supervise and guide the Accounting team in day-to-day operations, ensuring timely and accurate month-end/year-end closing and reporting.
- Establish, review, and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure compliance.
- Review and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and inventory management, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- In charge of costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing account reporting, ensuring alignment with operational and financial data.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team, setting clear KPIs and performance goals.
- Conduct regular training and knowledge sharing sessions to ensure continuous professional development of the team.
7. Ad-hoc Assignments & Projects
- Handle any special projects and ad-hoc assignments as directed by the management, including system implementation, process improvement initiatives, and corporate exercises (e.g., mergers and acquisitions).
Requirements
- Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) — mandatory.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) are an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a group environment and manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and group consolidation practices.
- Experience in handling full set of accounts, including consolidation and financial reporting for multiple entities.
- Solid background in audit, preferably gained from reputable audit firms.
- Proven experience in tax planning and compliance, including preparation and review of tax computations and liaising with tax authorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and accounting software. ERP system knowledge is an added advantage.
- Meticulous, analytical, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, capable of working effectively with all levels of management and stakeholders.
- Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
- Able to work independently under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
