About the role
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Director of Finance to support the Financial Controller in managing the hotel's Finance & Accounting Department. The role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, financial analysis, month-end closing, audit matters and accounting operations while leading and developing the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financial reports and relevant supporting schedules.
Analyse financial results including revenue, payroll costs and operating expenses.
Assist in preparing the Annual Operating Budget and Business Plan.
Monitor financial data input and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Assist in taking corrective actions to achieve budget and forecast targets.
Monitor and review daily and monthly cost and revenue reports.
Take full responsibility for owner P&L closing and reporting.
Ensure all books are closed according to established deadlines.
Accounting & Audit
Monitor and review balance sheet accounts regularly.
Ensure timely reconciliation of bank accounts, accounts payable and other accounting transactions.
Maintain accounting schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Liaise with internal and external auditors during audit activities.
Ensure accounting reports and schedules are accurate and up to date.
Prepare reports for management and owners according to established deadlines.
Ensure compliance with relevant local accounting regulations and legislation.
Lead, supervise and develop the Accounting team.
Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining overall accountability.
Provide regular feedback and coaching to team members.
Conduct performance appraisals and identify training and development needs.
Ensure the department is adequately staffed and operating efficiently.
Promote effective communication and good working relationships across departments.
Administrative & Operational
Ensure accounting records, reports and forms are maintained according to company policies and procedures.
Ensure daily, weekly and monthly accounting reports are completed accurately and on time.
Attend relevant briefings and meetings.
Plan and manage projects while responding effectively to operational changes.
Conduct team briefings and meetings to ensure smooth departmental operations.
Ensure accounting systems and schedules are properly maintained and updated.
Assist the Financial Controller with special projects and other reports as required.
Assume the functions of the Finance Director during his/her absence, where required.
Perform other duties assigned by the Superior.
Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
ACCA qualification is preferred / required.
3–5 years of hospitality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of accounting operations and financial reporting.
Good financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good task and project management skills.
Able to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Familiar with relevant local accounting regulations and requirements.
Strong attention to detail, organisation and accuracy.
Proactive, responsible and able to work effectively with different departments.
