Job Responsibility
- Building architects design commercial, industrial, institutional, residential and recreational buildings and plan and monitor their construction, maintenance and rehabilitation.
- Tasks include â
- Developing new or improved architectural theories and methods;
- Inspecting sites and consulting clients, management and other stakeholders to determine type, style and size of proposed buildings and alterations to existing buildings;
- Providing information regarding designs, materials and estimated building times;
- Preparing project documentation, including sketches and scale drawings, and integrating structural, mechanical and aesthetic elements in final designs;
- Writing specifications and contract documents for use by builders and calling tenders on behalf of clients;
- Making necessary contacts to ensure feasibility of projects regarding style, cost, timing and compliance with regulations;
- Identifying and finding best solutions for problems regarding function and quality of interior environments of buildings and making necessary designs, drawings and plans;
- Monitoring construction or rehabilitation work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards;
- Maintaining technical liaison and consultancy with other relevant specialists.
Job Requirements
- Candidate must at least a Professional Certificate, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Degree, Advanced Degree.
- Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia, optionally Mandarin.
- Positive attitude, passionate on collaborative teamwork, excel at interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Liaising with construction professionals about the feasibility of potential projects
- Taking into account constraints such as town planning legislation, environmental impacts and project budgets
- Working closely with a team of other professionals such as project managers, building service engineers, construction managers, quantity surveyors and architectural technologists
- Completing planning applications and taking advice from local authorities, legal professionals and governmental new build departments
- Writing and presenting reports, proposals, applications and contracts
- Specifying the requirements for each project
- Adapting plans according to circumstances and resolving any problems that may arise during construction
- Playing a role in project and team management
- Viewing building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
- Creating building designs and highly detailed drawings both by hand and by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications
- Salary will be finalized after interview session.
