A leading engineering firm in Malaysia seeks a Field Service Engineer to oversee project management and customer support for high-tech equipment. Key responsibilities include technical training, project planning, and quality assurance for installations. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in engineering, extensive project management experience, and knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 13485.

1.1 Responsible for planning and managing the assigned project.
1.2 Responsible for coordinating the project to ensure Quality, OTD & Cost objectives are met.
1.3 To liaise with customers/vendors respectively for the assigned projects.
1.4 Report on project progress to the immediate superior.
1.5 Responsible for quality control on parts received, work in process, and finished tools.
1.6 Responsible for assembly cost, including material, people (sub-contractor) & layout.
1.7 Responsible for keeping documents up-to-date, including but not limited to the Assembly Checklist, continuously.
1.8 To provide technical feedback on assembly issues to concerned parties requesting such information.
1.9 Purchase materials for the assigned project when necessary.
1.10 Responsible for achieving departmental goals by working closely with the immediate superior in the planning and implementation of delivery, quality, and cost objectives, including continuous improvement activities.
1.11 Continuously ensure the development of his / her subordinates, includingcoaching, counseling, training, mentoring, among others, to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the performance management systems.
1.12 To set up training and development programs for all his subordinates/sub-contractors. To guide and supervise them in performing day-to-day work effectively.
1.13 To ensure a visual workplace management, using tools like 5S to ensure an efficient and hazard-free environment.
1.14 To ensure observance of the company safety rules and regulations at all times.
2. Field Service and Escalation Management.
2.1 Built customer rapport by meeting commitments and expectations of customers and end users.
2.2 To execute equipment support tasks assigned as per project requirements or as assigned by the Production and Service Manager.
2.3 To have constant documented feedback on services rendered at the customer site, back to the Production and Service Manager through field service reports or e-mail.
2.4 To participate in project and user group meetings to ensure the success of equipment commissioning.
2.5 To provide 24-hour equipment support based on call escalations on assigned projects, either at customer sites or at the factory, applicable for customers with service contracts, e.g., Intel
2.6 To be the communication interface between assembly, field service, design, quality, and customers.
2.7 To participate in continuous improvement projects to meet or exceed equipment specifications via statistical data analysis or problem-solving tools.
2.8 To minimize equipment downtime of tools at customer sites by providing impromptu or training to the end users to develop their self-support capability.
2.9 To assist the Production and Field Service Manager in marketing for new business/ service contracts for the business, if any.
2.10 To verify consolidated field complaints (on site) & drive for continuous
improvement.
2.11 Delivery, assembly, testing, and data collection of parts or modules at the customer's site.
3. On-Site Installation
3.1 To execute and complete the installation tasks of the newly commissioned tool.
3.2 To facilitate and coordinate equipment buyoff by customers at the site via prepared Test Plans/ BKM
3.3 To provide official or unofficial training to end-users.
3.4 To assist in the closure of the Equipment Acceptance Checklist.
4. Engineering Support
4.1 Providing technical solutions and design ideas for prototype equipment to work with the customer's process during equipment validation at the site.
4.2 To be part of the project initiation team, defining (as a team) the Test Plans /Buy off requirements for a project.
4.3 To be part of the Design Review team.
5. Training
5.1 To deliver end-user training at customer sites.
5.2 To inform the Engineering department of newly incorporated methods or BKM so that documentation can be updated.
6. Contribute towards achieving management and individual objectives.
7. Perform any ad hoc tasks assigned by the superior.
Requirements:
1. Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics or equivalent with at least 3 to 5 years of working experience in the related field.
2. Basic knowledge of understanding of engineering drawings or electrical schematic diagrams, technical knowledge with basic parts inspection, module assembly & critical alignment.
3. Able to lead and manage a small group of people on a project basis. Good at project management skills.
4. In-depth knowledge and experience with ISO 13485 standards.
