Job summary

Lam Research International Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an assembler to join its global operations in Malaysia.

You will assemble and install parts for wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) in a lean manufacturing clean-room, using schematics and hand tools to ensure precise setup and tolerance control. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and cross-training across multiple work centers in a dynamic production environment.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree, Technical Certificate, or Diploma in Engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years of mechanical or related assembly experience.
• Effective communication in English.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in computer-based data systems and MS Office.
• Able to bend, reach, and lift up to 35 pounds and use various hand tools.
• Able to distinguish wires by color, size, thickness, and markings.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install parts/hardware for wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) using schematics and hand tools.
• Maintain workflow by adapting to changing priorities and rework requirements.
• Inspect parts visually before installation and verify correct delivery.
• Participate in audits with visual checks, checklists, and leak tests.
• Cross-train across Final Assembly, Sub Assembly, Feeder Bay, Preship, and NPI.
• Train other assemblers on job functions and continuous improvement.
• Identify Non-Conformance Items and escalate to engineering.
• Follow safety guidelines, use PPE, and observe Lockout Tagout procedures.
• Communicate production status and tasks clearly to stakeholders.

The impact you’ll make

At Lam, as an Assembler, you play a vital role in electronic, electron-mechanical, and mechanical product assembly on wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) in a lean manufacturing clean-room environment. You’ll use your insights, computer-based instructions, hand tools and fixtures to install parts and hardware. Your expertise ensures precise setup and adjustments, holding tolerances to specifications, and contributes to the quality of Lam's products.

What you’ll do

• Effectively use instructions and schematics, hand tools, equipment, and fixtures to assemble and install parts/hardware for WFE.
• Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing priorities, including rework requirements to maintain workflow and production schedules.
• Ensure correct part delivery and perform visual inspection of components before installation.
• Contribute to audits by conducting visual inspections, verifying checklists, and performing leak checks as needed.
• Cross-train in multiple work centers (e.g., Final Assembly, Sub Assembly, Feeder Bay, Preship, NPI).
• Train other assemblers on specific job functions and role modeling continuous improvement behaviors.
• Identify and document Non-Conformance Items (NCIs), escalating to engineering as needed.
• Support a safe work environment by following safe work practices, adhering to safety guidelines, utilizing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and following Lockout Tagout (LOTO) policies and procedures.
• Provide timely clear communication to stakeholders including production status, tasks completed, signoffs, detailed descriptions, continuous improvement ideas, and shift pass downs.

Who we’re looking for

• 2-4 years of mechanical or related assembly experience.
• Associates Degree, Technical Certificate, or Diploma in Engineering or related field.
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal, in English.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts in fast paced and time-sensitive environment.
• Proficiency in computer-based data systems, applications, and Microsoft Office software.
• Frequently position oneself (e.g., bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, stand) to perform job tasks including: moving parts and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds; operating various hand tools, equipment, and fixtures.
• Distinguish various wires by color, size, thickness, markings, etc.

Preferred qualifications

Experience working in a manufacturing environment or in semiconductor capital equipment industry is nice to have.
