Job summary

Jora Malaysia seeks an experienced ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy RAG-based retrieval systems for conversational AI. You will build AI agents capable of handling multi-turn conversations and external tool invocations, while optimizing LLMs and prompts for product use cases.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in ML engineering, strong Python skills, and hands-on experience with vector databases and ML frameworks. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience building and deploying conversational AI or NLP solutions.
• Experience with RAG models and deploying production ML systems.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow/JAX).
• Strong understanding of NLP fundamentals and production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize RAG pipelines for information retrieval in conversational AI systems.
• Build and deploy intelligent AI agents capable of multi-turn conversations and tool invocation.
• Implement and maintain a Model Context Protocol for connectivity across AI systems and external APIs.
• Manage and optimize vector databases for fast retrieval of contextual data.

• Research & Development: Conduct R&D activities to explore, prototype, and evaluate emerging AI technologies, techniques, and frameworks to inform product and engineering direction.
• Model Development & Ownership: Design, develop, and optimize robust RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines to facilitate effective information retrieval in conversational AI systems.
• AI Agent Deployment: Build and deploy intelligent AI agents capable of handling multi-turn conversations, executing autonomous tasks, and managing tool invocation based on user intent.
• System Integration: Implement and maintain a Model Context Protocol to ensure seamless, standardized connectivity and data sharing between our AI systems, external APIs, and databases.
• Data Architecture: Manage and optimize vector databases and advanced indexing techniques to efficiently store and retrieve contextual data.
• LLM Optimization: Fine-tune large language models (LLMs) and apply advanced prompt engineering techniques to optimize for specific product use cases.
• NLP/NLU Implementation: Implement powerful NLP, NLU, and NLG techniques (sentiment analysis, entity recognition, text generation) to enhance product capabilities.
• Pre-Sales Support: Support technical pre-sales activities by engaging with customers, understanding business requirements, presenting AI solutions, conducting demonstrations, and preparing technical proposals.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest ML and AI advancements, proactively suggesting new tools or frameworks to improve our tech stack.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product and engineering teams to translate AI capabilities into practical, scalable applications.

Job Requirements:

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Experience: 3+ years of industry experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on building and deploying conversational AI or NLP solutions.
• Technical Expertise: Proven, hands‑on experience developing RAG models, working with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate), prompt engineering, and utilizing LLMs.
• R&D Exposure: Experience with R&D activities, AI prototyping, or proof-of-concept (POC) projects is highly preferred.
• Programming Skills: Strong, production-level programming skills in Python and proficiency with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• NLP Knowledge: Deep understanding of NLP fundamentals and practical experience deploying NLU/NLG techniques in production environments.
• Problem Solving: A pragmatic approach to system design, with the ability to independently troubleshoot and build scalable, robust ML systems.
• Pre-Sales/Client-Facing: Exposure to technical pre-sales, customer engagement, solution consulting, or AI solution demonstrations will be an added advantage.
• Communication: Strong ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across remote and cross-functional teams.
• Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in English is required. Mandarin and/or Cantonese proficiency is required, as this role involves close coordination with our Hong Kong HQ on business and operational matters.
