Architectural Designer / Draughtsman (Assistant Manager)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Architectural Designer / Draughtsman with strong AutoCAD skills to join our technical division. The Architectural Designer / Draughtsman will be responsible for managing and executing technical drawings from design through to completion, coordinating with suppliers, contractors, and collaborating closely with internal teams to interpret design requirements and compliant delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Project planning: Prepare detailed drawings and structural shop drawings to meet project specifications for architectural projects. Revise drawings based on design changes and site requirements.
- Ensure compliance: Ensure drawings accuracy and comply with all relevant building codes, statutory requirements, regulations, and standards.
- Support project management: Assist the Architectural Manager and support the technical team by providing accurate and timely drawings during the design development stage.
- Collaborate with the technical team: Collaborate with the wider technical and construction team to resolve any technical issues.
- Stay updated: Stay up-to-date with the latest design software, techniques, and industry developments.
- Ad-hoc Tasks: Undertake additional drafting tasks as assigned by the Project Management or superior.
Qualifications & Skills
- Relevant qualification: Candidate must possess at least Diploma or higher qualification in Architecture, Building Design or related field.
- Proven experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in architecture, infrastructure, project management, building construction or engineering environments, demonstrating competency in technical drawing and design processes, with experience in design work and submission to local authorities. Experience in the preparation of Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCP) and drywall shop drawings will be considered an added advantage.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must. Experience with Revit and SketchUp is an added advantage.
- Attention to detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret architecture specifications accurately.
- Understanding of regulations: Familiarity with Malaysian building codes such as UBBL, ANSI, ISO, and local authority submission processes (PBT, Majlis) is a plus.
