Summary:

An Architectural Associate (Designer) leads the design and development of architectural projects, ensuring creative vision, technical accuracy, and project delivery from concept through construction. This role involves managing design teams, coordinating with consultants, and maintaining high standards in both aesthetics and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present architectural designs for projects of diverse scale and complexity, using a variety of media and in response to project briefs.
  • Integrate aesthetic, technical, and regulatory requirements into comprehensive design proposals, demonstrating both creativity and technical proficiency.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, models, and documentation for planning, tender, and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure design intent and project objectives are met.
  • Apply knowledge of construction methods, structural systems, environmental strategies, and building regulations to design development.
  • Participate in site visits, coordination meetings, and design reviews.
  • Research and apply relevant architectural theories, histories, and sustainable design principles to projects.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Part 2 qualification or equivalent postgraduate degree in architecture.
  • 2–4 years of relevant architectural experience
  • Proficiency in architectural software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, D5, Photoshop).
  • Strong design, technical, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of professional responsibilities, project management, and regulatory frameworks.
