About Our Client

Our client is one of the leading consumer goods companies with a strong and growing presence in APAC. They are looking for an APAC Regional Director who will work closely with the Global Legal team.

Job Description

You will lead the legal function for our client, focusing on the APAC region. You will collaborate closely with the Global Legal team and external advisors to provide high-quality, commercially focused legal advice to a dynamic team.

Duties in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and supporting the negotiation of a broad range of agreement types, including supplier contracts, lease agreements, and franchise agreements.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enforce the organization's corporate governance and compliance policies and procedures, given its status as a listed company.
  • Providing proactive and insightful legal guidance to the senior management team on all legal and regulatory matters, including M&A, joint ventures, corporate governance, and commercial contracts.
  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing legal team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment throughout the region.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with external legal counsel, regulators, and other key stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

  • At least 15 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a background in a regional/global MNC.
  • Open to both expat and local legal talent.
  • Law graduate from an accredited institution in a Commonwealth Country (UK, Canada, Australia); preference for those called to the bar.
  • Experience in managing a team across different markets/regions.
  • Regional experience covering multiple countries/regions.
  • Charismatic and dynamic leader with exceptional team leadership skills.
  • In-depth legal expertise related to joint ventures (JVs), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), lease agreements, etc.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and understand complex legal issues and provide strategic advice.
