Responsibilities
- Operate the ambulance in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure the ambulance is properly maintained, and conduct routine checks of equipment and emergency supplies.
- Transport patients to and from the hospital in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients during transport.
- Administer basic life support measures as needed during transport.
- Monitor and respond to changes in the patient's condition, providing assistance as required.
- Maintain effective communication with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and emergency medical services personnel.
- Report patient status and any changes during transport to ensure coordinated care.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing assistance and following established protocols.
- Collaborate with emergency medical services and other first responders as needed.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient transports, including vital signs, interventions, and any incidents.
- Ensure all required forms and reports are completed in accordance with hospital policies.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the ambulance, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and overall vehicle condition.
- Report any mechanical issues promptly for repairs.
- Adhere to infection control practices within the ambulance and during patient transport.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the ambulance.
- Interact with patients in a compassionate and respectful manner, addressing their needs and providing reassurance during transport.
Education and Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) is required.
- Previous experience as an ambulance driver or emergency medical technician is preferred.
- Safe and defensive driving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of basic life support measures.
- Adherence to ethical and professional standards.
Working Conditions
