Job summary

Evonik in Malaysia is seeking an AI Principal Engineer with 10+ years of experience to design and deliver enterprise-scale AI solutions for production and business processes.

You will lead end-to-end AI initiatives, architect AI systems on Azure cloud-native platforms, and work with software, data science, and operations teams to scale responsibly.

The role requires strong Python, ML, MLOps fundamentals, and excellent communication across interdisciplinary stakeholders to drive measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning, software engineering, or data science.
• Hands-on expertise in ML/DL, generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and industrial AI applications.
• Strong understanding of AI systems architecture, enterprise data architecture, and Azure cloud-native platforms.
• Advanced Python with SQL, APIs, microservices, Azure ML, Databricks, Docker and CI/CD basics.
• Experience with MLOps, lifecycle management, monitoring, governance, deployment pipelines.

Requirements

• 10 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning, software engineering, or data science, with a proven record of delivering enterprise-scale AI solutions to production.
• Hands‑on expertise in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, LLMs, RAG, agentic AI, model evaluation, optimization, responsible AI, and industrial or business process AI applications.
• Strong understanding of AI systems architecture, enterprise data architecture, Azure cloud‑native AI platforms, API‑first integration, secure platform design, and end‑to‑end AI operationalization.
• Advanced Python proficiency, with solid experience in SQL, APIs, microservices, software architecture, Azure DevOps, Azure AI services, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Databricks, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, CI/CD, and modern engineering workflows.
• Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, lifecycle management, monitoring, governance controls, deployment pipelines, performance management, and cloud‑native platform engineering.
• Knowledge of manufacturing or chemical process environments, process modelling and simulation, optimization, operations research, enterprise AI platforms, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, LeanIX, SAP BTP, Azure, and Databricks.

Languages

Business‑fluent English. German language skills are an advantage.

Team contributer, strong sense of ownership, hands‑on mentality, technical leadership, and excellent communication skills in interdisciplinary business and technical environments.
