JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
- Responsible for the overall farm management & Cattle health of the Company’s Farm, which includes implementation of a systematic breeding program under estrous synchronization methods using “Sexed semen” and cattle health / breeding of Cattle belongs to the company.
- The management of the Livestock in general, which shall include but not limited to feeding, animal welfare and administration of the Farm Office, human resources, and other related matters.
- Prepare budgets, plans and development program for the Farm and Research & Development purposes and implement procedures to obtain appropriate My GAP / ISO status.
- Prepare daily detail records, data, and information of cattle i.e. general condition (animal health, nutrition etc.), postmortem, mortality details, general expenses accounts and submit weekly reports to the Management.
Research and Development:
- To conduct R&D among the imported Bos Taurus dairy breeds like Jersey Friesian cross breeds from Australia by inter cross breeding with superior germ plasm obtained from Bos indicus breed – AFS (Australian Friesian Sahiwal) which is resistant to hot temperatures and tropical diseases prevails in Malaysian peninsula. The ultimate aim of this R&D is to derive a potential breed which can yield optimal daily milk yield of minimum 20 lit per cow and also which can withstand the Malaysian agro climatic condition & the threatening blood parasitic diseases prevailing among the current existing dairy breeds in Malaysia.
Note: The current national average milk yield from Malaysian dairy cows (Mafriwal breed) is only around 9 lit / day / cow.
- To carry out Research and development in disease control, feeding, feeds, breeding nutrition to increase breeding and production of quality cattle.
- To study on the genotypic as well as phenotypic parameters and the growth traits such as Birth weight, weaning weight, Age at maturity, Gestation length, Abortion / Stillbirth ratio etc. among the offspring born to the locally raised heifers which are inseminated with imported “Sexed semen (F)”.
- To ensure that all laboratory equipment’s and premises are kept in a good and sanitary conditions, to ensure minimum contamination at the Laboratory and implement systematic, sanitary procedures for disposal of laboratory and cattle waste in the Farm.
- To maintain records of all medical supplies, equipment’s, tests materials, etc. and data/information of all tests, experiments carried out in respect of all categories of cattle and to submit a detailed report to the Management on a weekly basis.
- Attend to the general health care of the cattle, husbandry activities,
emergencies arising to the cattle and farm and other related matters.
- Any other duties assigned to you as and when necessary, by the Executive Director and any other senior officer(s) designated by the Management.
