Job Summary
Manages and directs employees in the sale and distribution of Strategic Business Unit products and services to achieve and sustain profitable growth, including writing new business, retaining existing accounts, providing quality service, increasing market share, and expanding product mix within Strategic Business Unit guidelines.
Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
- Selects, trains, develops, and coaches team members, assesses their performance, and provides recommendations on human resource issues (e.g., promotions, transfers, salary administration, terminations).
- Manages sales and service activities of the management team to increase new business and retention across all product offerings.
- Oversees operations for cost efficiency, evaluates opportunities to reduce costs, improve operations, and monitors expenses within the approved budget.
- Manages the Customer Service Index program to ensure results are reported to senior management.
Business Accountabilities
- Manages relationships with key customers and areas of responsibility.
- Develops or enables the development of new and expanding business opportunities.
- Utilizes contacts with specialized expertise as needed.
- Identifies opportunities and risks related to external environmental changes over 1-2 years.
- Designs, recommends, and implements process and system changes.
- Develops and implements the annual budget for the area of responsibility.
- Sets and executes operational objectives aligned with the strategy of the Shared Services/Strategic Business Unit.
- Ensures documentation, communication, and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Monitors activities to identify risks and non-compliance issues.
- Participates in or leads risk assessments and escalates issues as needed.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in sales.
- At least 2 years of direct sales experience.
- Experience analyzing financial statements and reports.
Preferred:
- Strong knowledge of sales principles, techniques, and terminology.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Knowledge of customer business and operations.
- People management experience.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
- Licensed to sell insurance products.
