Job summary

A leading retail company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Accounts Executive to manage daily accounting activities, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and provide financial reporting. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting with 2-3 years of experience in the field. Proficiency in accounting software and strong analytical skills are essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in retail/wholesale/FMCG.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Reporting To: Finance Manager / Chief Financial Controller

Job Purpose

The Accounts Executive is responsible for managing daily accounting activities, ensuring accuracy of financial records, compliance with statutory requirements, and providing timely financial reporting to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
  • Reconcile accounts, including bank reconciliation and supplier statements.
  • Assist in preparing management reports for review by senior management.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on collections.
  • Prepare aging reports and highlight potential risks.
  • Verify staff claims, petty cash, and expenses.
Inventory & Costing
  • Work closely with the inventory team to reconcile stock and costing.
  • Assist in stock valuation, shrinkage reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor purchase invoices against GRN (Goods Received Note).
Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Assist auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Support in tax computations, SST/GST submissions, EPF, SOCSO, PCB, and other statutory contributions.
Process Improvement & Control
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify gaps and propose improvements in accounting processes.
  • Support automation and digitalization initiatives for finance.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in retail/wholesale/FMCG environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Tally) and MS Excel.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
