The core responsibilities of the Accounting Officer – Income Auditor include auditing, processing, and ensuring timely hotel payments.
What will I be doing?
- Audit daily revenue figures, supporting reports, vouchers, and the General Cashier’s Report.
- Ensure timely preparation of Daily and Monthly Revenue and Settlement Reconciliation, capturing all revenue.
- Control all gifts or entertainment vouchers according to policy.
- Review entertainment dockets and officers’ checks for proper authorization and signatures.
- Authorize complimentary rooms appropriately.
- Audit telephone and internet interface reports to verify revenue posting.
- Print, audit, and file Front Office and Outlet reports chronologically.
- Verify transactions in daily reports, including credit cards, city ledger, allowances, rebates, and miscellaneous charges.
- Prepare rebate and allowance summaries and rebate journals.
- Reconcile credit card charges daily between electronic machines and POS systems.
- Prepare daily revenue reports for the Director of Finance / Financial Controller.
- Reconcile and record all concessionaire revenues accurately.
- Check the Room Rate Discrepancy Report for proper authorization of rate changes and upgrades.
- Print and review Room Status Discrepancy Reports twice daily, reporting exceptions.
- Record cashier overs/unders and follow up with relevant managers.
- Follow up on discrepancies, incomplete work, or missing information with departments.
- Ensure paid out vouchers are authorized with signatures and backup.
- Work with Revenue/Reservation teams on no-shows and charges.
- Audit daily food and beverage reports, verifying cashier remittances.
- Ensure proper accounting of restaurant, bar, banquets, and functions revenues.
- Be familiar with the hotel’s Contingency Plan for system failures and follow manual procedures.
- Input data accurately into the general ledger system.
- Maintain up-to-date files.
- Conduct monthly house float, petty cash, and safety deposit box audits.
- Monitor room variance reports and report unreasonable variances.
- Handle requests and inquiries efficiently.
- Be flexible with working hours, especially at month-end.
- Perform additional tasks to ensure departmental smooth functioning.
- Promote safety to minimize accidents and workers' compensation costs.
What are we looking for?
Ideal candidates should have:
- A university degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent qualification.
- Previous managerial operational accounting experience.
- At least 1 year of income audit experience in hospitality.
- Knowledge of F&B and front desk cashiering, night audit.
- IT training in Fidelio & Micros.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- System skills in OnQ, OPERA, Micros, SUN.
