Accounting Manager

Job Summary

The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting functions for our co-living properties, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficient financial operations. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health of the business by managing budgets, analyzing financial data, and supporting decision-making processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and knowledgeable about property management accounting in the co-living or real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
2. Monitor financial performance, provide insights on variances, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
3. Develop and manage budgets for each property, track expenses, and ensure financial targets are met.
Ensure accounts payable and receivable processes are properly overseen, ensuring timely billing, collections, and payments.
4. Reconcile tenant accounts and manage resident billing issues, coordinating with account management and operations teams.
5. Ensure accurate invoicing and payment processing for vendor contracts, utility bills, and other property-related expenses.
6. Manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds for operational and capital needs.
7. Prepare cash flow forecasts to support property management and strategic planning.
8. Monitor rent rolls, occupancy rates, and other key financial metrics, providing insights into financial trends.
9. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and property management laws.
10. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial record accuracy.
11. Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors, managing audits and tax filings.
12. Lead the budgeting process, working with department heads to develop budgets and projections.
13. Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support decisions on property improvements, investments, etc.
14. Track and report on financial KPIs relevant to the co-living industry, such as occupancy, resident retention, and operational costs.
15. Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development.
16. Oversee training programs to enhance team efficiency and compliance.
17. Collaborate with property management, operations, and other teams to foster a collaborative environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent is a plus).
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role within real estate or property management.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance in the real estate or co-living sector.
• Proficiency in accounting software, Google tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-department collaboration.
