Accountant / Sr. Executive / Executive / Assistant - Finance and Accounts
Butterworth (Manufacturing Plant) and Glenmarie, Shah Alam (HQ)
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting: Oversee, prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with accounting standards.
- Financial closings: Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings are completed on time.
- General ledger: Review general ledger entries and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Monitor and manage accounts receivable aging, oversee vendor payments, and reconcile vendor and customer accounts periodically.
- Bank & Ledger Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank, intercompany, and ledger reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Taxation & Compliance: Manage and ensure accurate and timely filing of GST, TDS, and other statutory returns; assist in income tax assessments and audits; stay updated with regulatory changes and ensure internal compliance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare and monitor annual budgets and forecasts; track actual performance against budget and report variances with insights.
- Audit Support & Internal Controls: Coordinate with internal and external auditors; prepare audit schedules; assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls and SOPs.
- Team Leadership & Coordination: Supervise and support junior accountants or finance executives; collaborate with cross-functional teams for smooth financial operations.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (e.g., Diploma in Accounting, Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA)
- Minimum 2-6 years of working experience in finance or accounting in Malaysia
- Experience in construction and/or manufacturing would be an advantage
- Experience with Malaysian accounting standards and statutory compliance
- Fresh graduates who are eager to learn are encouraged to apply for junior positions
Skills:
- Proficient in accounting software such as SQL Accounting, Autocount, UBS, or SAP
- Strong knowledge of SST, e-invoicing and Income Tax (LHDN)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and other Microsoft Office tools
- Good understanding of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Able to work independently and meet deadlines
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Mandarin is required to liaise with our Chinese counterpart
