Job summary

Luxury Careers Pte Ltd client in the retail sector is hiring an Accountant (General Ledger) to join the finance team in Kuala Lumpur. The role covers GL for Malaysia & Singapore, offering regional exposure while based in Malaysia. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of GL experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with intercompany accounting.

ACCA/CIMA in progress is a plus; SAP experience is an advantage. Hybrid work arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• ACCA or CIMA completed or in progress is a plus.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in an MNC.
• Experience with month‑end closing, reconciliations and intercompany accounting.
• GST/SST or retail industry experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Month‑end closing: prepare journal entries for accruals, reversals, reclassifications, provisions and adjustments.
• Prepare intercompany reconciliations and issue debit/credit notes for intercompany and inter‑brand recharges.
• Issue debit/credit notes for cash discounts, sales incentives and quarter‑end incentives.
• Maintain balance sheet schedules: accruals, prepayments, deposits, other receivables and marketing.
• Track year‑to‑date marketing spend, and review open purchase orders for accruals and duplicates.
• Manage fixed assets and inventory.
• Take part in stock counts in Malaysia and Singapore.
• Prepare and submit Singapore GST returns and government statistics surveys.
• Support monthly closing, group reporting and budget preparation.
• Provide supporting documents to external auditors and tax agents.
• Draft financial statements

My client is a well-known MNC in the retail industry, and they’re hiring an Accountant (General Ledger) to join their finance team in Kuala Lumpur. The role handles the general ledger for the Malaysia & Singapore entity, so you’ll get regional exposure while staying based in Malaysia.

What you bring

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills. SAP experience is an advantage
• Detail‑oriented, organised and able to work independently
• GST/SST or retail industry experience is a bonus
