A dynamic opportunity has arisen for an Accountant at WPP Business Services Sdn Bhd. This role requires supervising the SSC Finance team, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, handling audits, and collaborating with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in finance or accounting, relevant certifications, and substantial management experience in a fast-paced environment.
The accountant will be responsible for supervising the SSC Finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, statutory audit and tax reporting of SSC and WPP Operating Units (OpCo) as well direct and indirect tax reporting, driving compliance with IFRS, SOX and WPP group policies. This role is required to work closely with various internal stakeholders including WPP OpCo, SSC functional leaders and external stakeholders such as auditors, tax agents, vendors and government officers.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises the SSC Finance team in period-end close activities as per the agreed closing calendar and WPP reporting timeline, ensuring
Accurate and timely recording, collection and processing of all general and subsidiary ledger transactions including fixed assets, bank, intercompany, direct and indirect tax transactions.
Appropriate quality of analysis performed on monthly, quarterly and annual management reports.
Assist Financial Controller in preparing budgets and forecasts for SSC Malaysia.
To drive and manage Internal and SOX audits as well as any monthly/quarterly/annually internal and SOX reporting.
Provide advice to team members and support them in resolving daily operation issues.
Engage other SSC functional teams in discussions relating to Finance matters whenever necessary.
Implement best practices and proactively identify, propose and implement continuous improvement opportunities in existing processes within the team.
Regularly track and resolve outstanding issues and escalate to Financial Controller and relevant parties if required.
Monitor the SSC Finance team members' performance, encouraging 2-way feedback on work and non-work-related matters.
Assist in managing country WPP SSC Finance transition activities with the Financial Controller, SSC MY Director and Project Team.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Financial Controller.
Education & Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field, and professional qualification (ACCA/CPA/MIA etc.)
Minimum of 6 years of experience in management and statutory accounting and management reporting.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
Prior audit, tax and SOX exposure will be an added advantage.
Experience in MNC/SSC environment will be added advantage
Skill & Competencies
Good command of written and spoken English
Strong interpersonal and people management skills
Collaborative, strong sense of teamwork
Assertive and able to communicate clearly
Experience in using ERP system and Microsoft Office application
